Sound Soldiers (1999)

NOTE: PHYSICAL COPY IS LIMITED TO ONE PER CUSTOMER. Sound Soldiers is generally accepted as the "starting point" of Grüvis Malt's sound. Its release helped cement the futurock fan base in New England and push the band into a national market. The album has an all over bubbly feel to it - funk-heavy bass laden arrangements with very audible jazz and hip hop influences. The album is pop-ier than any of Grüvis Malt's subsequent work, and has a more positive outlook. Vocally it is wordy and colorful, albeit a bit goofy. The theme throughout is one of integrity, hope, and scorn for commercial radio.
