In a lot of ways this album was the band standing on its tippy toes. They were taking on the reins of production like never before, and trying to build a tightly knit theme album with gigantic artwork and thicker metaphor than they'd utilized in the previous three recordings. More complex layers to songs that were fairly "settled" from a year or more of performing them live. If that wasn't enough of a stretch, this record served as Gruvis Malt's pivotal transition from analog recording to digital multitracking.
Somewhere near the end of the album production negotiations with Lakeshore began, and soon the album had a home and a bit of promotional backing. Shortly after that, it didn't anymore.
